California Governor Gavin Newsom has vetoed a proposed bill that would have allowed undocumented immigrants in California to qualify for first-time homebuyer loans. The bill sought to expand the California Dream For All Shared Appreciation program, a state-run initiative that helps first-time homebuyers, by extending eligibility to undocumented residents. However, Newsom expressed concerns about the financial impact such a program expansion could have on the state’s budget.
