NHTSA Probes Zoox Robotaxis After Crash in California

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an investigation into robotaxis operated by Zoox following a recent crash involving one of its autonomous vehicles. This inquiry comes after an incident where two motorcycles collided with the rear end of a Zoox-operated autonomous Toyota Highlander.

Zoox, an Amazon-backed start-up, operates approximately 500 autonomous vehicles in Las Vegas, Nevada, and near its headquarters in Foster City, California. The company’s fleet primarily consists of modified Toyota Highlanders equipped with advanced autonomous driving technology.
