Lisa Miles from Southern California has fallen victim to a sophisticated scam, resulting in the loss of $25,000 to hackers. The scam unfolded when Miles, who is recently widowed, encountered a pop-up message on Instagram claiming to be from Microsoft, alerting her that her account had been compromised.

Believing the message to be legitimate, Miles contacted the number provided in the pop-up, connecting with a phony technician posing as a Microsoft representative.
