Customs agents at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) have seized thousands of contraband wildlife items at the airport's international mail room. Since October, the agents have discovered a vast array of illegal items, including crocodile skulls, taxidermy baby crocodiles, turtle skulls and skins, kangaroo tails and ears, elephant toenails, exotic butterflies, peacock feathers, coral, shark cartilage, and sea lion oil gel caps.
The individually packaged items were sent via airmail from various locations worldwide and were intended for destinations across the United States. The seizure highlights the ongoing issue. . .
