U.S. Army Deploys 100 Soldiers to Alaska’s Aleutian Islands Amid Russian Aircraft Sightings

In response to a surge in Russian military activity near U.S. airspace, the U.S. Army is deploying 100 soldiers to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. The move comes after multiple sightings of Russian military aircraft entering or approaching Alaska’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) over the past week. Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan confirmed that there have been five separate incidents of Russian incursions into the ADIZ and the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) within just seven days.
